Star level testing

Synchronized swimming stars and tiers are levels of difficulty learned and earned by recreational and competitive synchronized swimmers respectively. Orca Synchro performs Star testing once a term at the coaches' discretion.
The Synchro Alberta website explains the different levels and tiers.

Attendance

  • Synchronized swimming is a team sport, so attendance is very important. Team members are relying on you to attend every practice.
  • Please contact 428-ORCA (6722) if you are unable to attend a practice.
  • If you are not too sick, come to the practice and observe it on deck.
  • If you do not attend a practice and did not let your coach or the head coach know, a coach will contact you.
  • Being on time is important too!

Watershows

Christmas shows

  • Held at Scona Pool.
  • Please have your swimmers there at the usual 6:30pm. The show will begin at 7pm and will last approx. 45min.
  • Please bring lawn chairs as there will not be any bleachers on the pool deck this year and remember it is very warm in the pool area so dress appropriately.

  • We will be having refreshments in the party room after the show so please join us for some Christmas cheer!!

SPRING WATER SHOW TUESDAY, MAY 18, 2010

Mark your calendars: Tuesday, May 18th is the Orca Synchro Spring Water Show.  All our swimmers, from Tuesday and Thursday, will perform a routine.  We have also invited swimmers from other synchro clubs to participate.

This year the water show will be held at Scona Pool versus the U of A West pool, which is where we were last year.  The West pool is not available for rental during week day evenings.  Given that we will be at Scona Pool we ask that you please bring a towel and or a lawn chair.  We request that people sitting at the pools edge be seated on a towel and then the people behind this first row can sit on chairs.  This way we can optimize the viewing for everyone.

Swimmers need to be at the pool for 6:30 pm and the water show will start at 7:30 pm.  Please invite your friends and family to come and view this wonderful show. Remember that the pool environment can be quite warm so dress lightly and in layers.  You might also want to bring along some water.  After the water show is over the pool will be available for the Orca swimmers and family swim members until 9:30.

This year we will be hiring a professional photographer to attend the watershow and take pictures of both the show and individual swimmers.  The individual swimmer and routine photos will be available for purchase right at the watershow from the photographer by viewing photos taken on a computer.  General photos of the watershow will be purchased by the club and will be used for advertising material.

New Watershow Hair and Goggle Policy

Going forward, for the watershows, swimmers will have their hair up in gelatin and will swim without goggles. Exceptions to this policy will be made at the head coach’s discretion.   All of our Synchro Stars Teams will also be performing without their goggles this year!

In order to comply with the new policy all swimmers are expected to arrive at the pool with their hair up in gelatin by 6:30 pm for the spring watershow on May 18th. There will be 2 different training days for parents to learn how to do Synchro hair: Tuesday May 4 and Thursday May 6 at 6:45 pm. Please email headcoach@orcasynchro.org to confirm which date you will be attending.
