Amanda has been the Head Coach of Orca Synchro for the last 7 years. She has been coaching for 17 years at various clubs and levels in Edmonton and Alberta. She swam competitively for 8 years prior to becoming a coach and swam for another 3 years as a masters swimmer. She is also an official with Alberta Artistic Swimming. She loves seeing the swimmers and coaches work hard and succeed at achieving their goals. Her focus has been on making the Orca club into a family. Outside of Orca, she has a family of her own, with 4 children keeping her busy. She is eager to see all the swimmers back in the pool and is looking forward to meeting all the new swimmers and their families.
Cass is a longstanding member of the Orca family. She started as a swimmer and swam for 7 years and is now entering her 7th year of coaching! She loves everything the club stands for and wants to help our swimmers grow their skills and abilities while maintaining the community Orca has built over the years. Cass just graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts degree and is the Training Admin for the Canadian Brewhouse. Forever learning, Cass cannot wait to see what this year is going to bring!
Sophie has been a part of the Orca family for 11 years, swimming for 9, and entering her 5th year of coaching. She loves coming up with creative choreography and sharing her knowledge with others. She is especially excited to get back in the pool after a long year and a half of Zoom practices. Outside of the pool, she is starting her 4th year of post-secondary, studying Anthropology at the U of A.
Annaleise will be coaching one of the Orca Star teams this season. She is a certified Competition Introduction coach, and this will be her fifth year coaching; before that, she swam competitively for 5 years. Coaching is one of her biggest passions because it allows her to connect with incredible people through a sport she absolutely loves. Outside of Artistic Swimming, she is a full-time university student working towards her Social Work Degree and a big gym-goer because she loves weight lifting! Her hope for this season is to create a safe, fun and challenging environment where the athletes can enjoy Artistic Swimming. She cannot wait to see the Orca family back at the pool!
Gabby swam with Orca for 8 years before she became a coach to continue her love for Artistic Swimming. This is her fourth year coaching and she is so excited to start this season and see all of the smiling faces! Gabby believes the Orca community is phenomenal and it is a place to make life-long friends. She loves seeing friendships build at each practice. This summer, she worked as a counsellor at an outdoor education summer camp. She is a full-time student at the University of Alberta in her second year in the Faculty of Secondary Education. Her goal for this year is to ensure that everyone has a positive, safe and accomplished year, filled with great memories and new skills. She looks forward to seeing everyone at the pool!
Lauren has been part of the Orca family for 11 years, swimming for 9, and entering her 5th year of coaching. She is so excited for the opportunity to coach again this year and continue to share her passion for the sport with others. When she’s not on deck, she spends most of her time at Macewan University where she is currently studying business.
Jen has been swimming with Orca for about seven years and this will be her fourth year as a coach! She is so incredibly honoured to share the joys and exciting challenges that come with being an artistic swimmer. She is a full time university student in her third year at the U of A studying Anthropology and Psychology, when not on deck. She also has a passion for art and creativity that helps make a vibrant and fun environment in the pool. She cannot wait to share her excitement with the swimmers this upcoming season!
